1. Getting Started
Focus One helps you escape task overwhelm by focusing on one thing at a time. The app is built around three core workflows.
1.1 Brain Dump
Capture everything on your mind without organizing.
- Open the app and tap Brain Dump.
- Write freely — lists, sentences, fragments. No structure needed.
- Our AI extracts individual tasks and prioritizes them automatically.
- Review and adjust if needed, then focus on what matters first.
1.2 Focus Timer
Work on one task with full presence.
- Select a task to work on.
- Tap Start to begin your session.
- The timer starts automatically.
- Complete the task or pause when you need a break.
1.3 Task Breakdown
Split complex tasks into manageable steps.
- Select a task that feels overwhelming.
- Tap Breakdown to let AI divide it into subtasks.
- Work through subtasks one at a time.
2. Features
Focus One includes all features with a free trial to get started.
- Focus Timer: Circular progress timer with play/pause and session tracking.
- Brain Dump: AI-powered task extraction and prioritization from freeform text.
- Task Breakdown: AI splits large tasks into manageable subtasks.
- Task Management: Create, complete, and organize tasks locally on your device.
- Completed Tasks: All finished tasks are saved in one place for review.
Free Trial: Try Focus One free before subscribing. Your trial begins when you first open the app.
Managing Your Subscription: Subscriptions are handled through the App Store. To manage or cancel, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
3. Frequently Asked Questions
3.1 General
Does Focus One require internet?
AI features (Brain Dump, Breakdown) require an internet connection. Task data is stored locally on your device.
Will I lose my tasks if I close the app?
No. All tasks are saved locally on your device. They persist through app restarts and device reboots.
3.2 Settings
How do I enable or disable haptic feedback?
Tap the sliders icon in the top right to open Settings, then toggle Haptics on or off.
How do I delete all my data?
Delete the app from your device. Since all data is stored locally, uninstalling removes everything. There is no cloud data to manage.
3.3 Subscription
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
- Download Focus One from the App Store.
- Ensure you're signed in with the same Apple ID.
- Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Select Focus One and tap Cancel.
3.4 Troubleshooting
The timer isn't working correctly.
- Force-close the app and reopen it.
- Check that Background App Refresh is enabled for Focus One in iOS Settings.
- Ensure your device is not in Low Power Mode.
- Restart your device.
If issues persist, contact us with your device model and iOS version.
AI features are not responding.
- Verify you have an active internet connection.
- Ensure your subscription is active.
- Try again in a few minutes — the AI service may be temporarily unavailable.
4. Privacy
Focus One is built with privacy as a core principle.
- Local Storage: All task data stays on your device.
- No Accounts: No email or login required.
- AI Processing: Text sent to AI is processed and immediately discarded. It is not used for training.
- Anonymous Analytics: We use TelemetryDeck for usage metrics. No personal data is tracked.
